We are pleased to announce the kick-off of the adult summer squads for season 2024/25. These squads are aimed at high performing players to represent CBVA at local, state and national tournaments. CBVA membership is required to participate. Squad members receive access to expert coaches, specific preparation for tournaments and concessional pricing for training.

Our expectation of squad members are that they are upstanding members of CBVA, and they embrace and demonstrate our values (they’re in the email footer!) within the community. More information on our expectations of squad members will be provided to chosen players prior to commencement.

Program Dates

1st October 2024 – 30 March 2025 (made up of two terms, typically ~12 weeks each)

Training Format (unchanged from prior season)

  • 2 groups per gender with a maximum of 6 athletes per group.
  • Training will consist of 2 ball sessions per week – final scheduling to be confirmed.

Scheduling

  • Women’s Group 1: Monday 5:30pm & Wednesday 5:30pm
  • Men’s Group 1: Tuesday 6:30am & Thursday 5:45pm
  • Women’s Group 2: Tuesday 6:30am & Thursday 6:00pm
  • Men’s Group 2: Tuesday 5:45pm & Thursday 6:30am

Program cost

Term 1 cost is $495 (excluding GST) for 22 sessions.

All players are expected to pay for and attend the whole term, meaning no partial payment will be accepted, so please ensure you are able to commit. Any refunds would be at the discretion of coaches and the Board.

Try-outs

If there are a large number of people are interested, try-outs will be held on Saturday, 21st of September in the afternoon between 2pm – 4pm. Further information about any try-outs will be communicated by 14th September 2024.

Update: Try-outs are confirmed to go ahead on September 21st on Court 1 & 2. All players are expected to be warm and ready, no warm up on court. 

  • Women from 2:00pm
  • Men from 3:10pm

Selection criteria

The criteria Includes, but is not limited to:

  • Skill level demonstrated during the try-out as assessed by the coaches (consistent serving, passing, hand setting, attacking, etc).
  • Results of tournaments in season 2023/24 (if applicable).
  • Previous commitment shown to prior season squad training (if applicable). Please note that placement in a squad last season or being part of a winter / summer squad previously does not automatically guarantee you a spot in the upcoming squads.
  • Previous commitment representing CBVA at tournaments.
  • Demonstration of CBVA’s values.
