Dear All,We’re making some changes to the way Adult Training is delivered. It has been almost a year since since we made major structural changes to the way Adult Training was run, and in that time, we have let training classes run with minimal intervention, and have observed and learnt plenty along the way. Background and context for these changesOne the goals of the restructure was to make training more affordable by lowering the prices of training classes from approx. $33 – $36 per session (before transaction fees) to $27.50 (after transaction fees) at the cheapest offering (a 10 class pack). By lowering the financial barrier to participation, we were anticipating an increase in participation, but this has not been realised in the numbers required to achieve feasibility. We estimated we needed to average approx. 6 attendees per session throughout the year to cover our coaching costs (as a reminder, we are are not-for-profit community sports Club run by volunteers). In these 11 months, we’ve averaged under 5 attendees per session (4.2 in the winter months; 5.5 in the summer months). Consequently, we’ve incurred a significant financial loss this year, as any surplus generated is capped by our 8 attendee cap, while deficits extend anytime we’re below 6.While this was budgeted for as part of the change, the current approach is not sustainable long term at these attendance levels. We acknowledge the last year involved a lot of change with the switch to Mindbody and other operating changes, however we’re not in a position to see what happens for another year. The below changes will take effect from 6th April 2026.Minimum class size of 4 participantsThe purpose of this change is to limit the financial loss of operating classes with only a few participants. We understand there are occasionally late or on-the-day registrations, but we need you, as participants, to plan further in advance to support the sustainability of training. We cannot be making exceptions for every individual circumstance.Last minute registrations can still go ahead if the minimum requirement of 4 participants has already been met. We’ll be relying on coaches to make a fair assessment of attendance and give participants sufficient notice of a class cancellation. For example, for a 6:30am class, the coach should make a decision the night before (~10pm) or for classes starting later, approx. 2 hours notice.Pricing changesWe’ve increased prices of all three of our options by $4-$5 per class to re-balance the financial outcome (refer to the table below). The Club deducts GST and transaction fees from these amounts, and the remainder is used to cover our coaching costs (which are fixed per session). These prices are still lower than what was being charged in February 2025, prior to the restructure. We’ve compared them other personal training activities on an hourly basis (our expectation is for our coaches to facilitate a 1.5 hour session), and these rates are comparably lower.Existing class credits in your account can be redeemed until consumed or expired.Consolidation of Squads into Adult TrainingWe don’t have the capacity to run an entirely separate program for the few number of players the Squad program currently serves.AAA and AA classes will be made available under the same conditions as other Adult Training classes meaning these classes will no longer be reserved for the same group of players. In practice, we will be relying on the coaches of these sessions to manage the suitability of players registering to, and attending the sessions by informing people if they don’t believe the level is suitable for them at this time.Across all levels, it’s our expectation that coaches give participants feedback on their suitability for class levels, but for these levels, it’s particularly important for our higher level players to have productive training sessions. No new Adult Squad class packs will be made available for sale. Instead, if you are wishing to continue training, please purchase one of the Adult Training class pack options above.Any existing Adult Squads class packs will be redeemable for Adult Training classes until they are consumed or expired. If you would like a refund for any remaining credits, please send email ‘treasurer at cbva.org.au’.2026 Winter ScheduleFinally, we have worked together with our coaches to publish a schedule for the coming Winter months.
